Marine Energy

In 2001 following work for clients with investments in marine energy, POWER PROJECTS identified the sector as an emerging source of sustainable energy. POWER PROJECTS has advised three marine energy developers on investment opportunities in New Zealand. Our services range from assessments of the resource, including 'hot spot' identification, grid connection, fabrication, regulatory and logistical issues.

Our involvement in, understanding and appreciation of, the rapidly evolving international marine energy sector has led to advisory and reporting roles for several government agencies and investment institutions.

POWER PROJECTS also had a key role in New Zealand's largest marine energy research and development programme: the Wave Energy Technology - New Zealand (WET-NZ) programme. Power Projects sold out of the project in September 2013.

He was a co-author of two reports produced by the Royal Society of New Zealand's President's Panel for Energy in 2005 - 2006.  He was a Lead Author of the Ocean Energy chapter of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation.
