POWER PROJECTS has a background in oil and gas exploration and production and is currently advising a number of clients on exploration investments or projects in New Zealand.

 

John Huckerby has 32 years' experience in international oil and gas exploration in the North Sea, Eastern Europe, United States and New Zealand. He recommended 10 North Sea wells for exploratory drilling, six of which were discoveries and led to field developments, including the Hudson oil field and the Davy gas field.

In New Zealand he led the exploratory drilling, appraisal and development of the Mangahewa gas-condensate field and the early exploration of the Pohokura gas-condensate field. He led the technical team, which conducted the first successful hydraulic fracturing operation at Mangahewa-2 in New Zealand (see photograph of flow testing at Mangahewa-2 after the fracturing operation. He has provided advice to NZ clients, including the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Ministry for the Environment and the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment on hydraulic fracturing.

POWER PROJECTS has worked on the onshore and offshore Taranaki Basin and all the frontier basins in New Zealand.
