John Huckerby Director John established POWER PROJECTS in 1999 and acts as consultant and advisor to a range of energy industry companies as well as Government and public sector organizations (see Our Clients ). John is also currently involved in two wave and tidal energy research projects and has acted for two wave energy companies.

Previously John worked for Fletcher Challenge Energy, leading the team that evaluated the Mangahewa and Pohokura gas-condensate fields. Before coming to New Zealand, John worked on minerals and hydrocarbon exploration in the United States, Eastern Europe, Saudi Arabia, Scandinavia and the North Sea.

John has a Ph.D. in Economic Geology from the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College in London and an MBA from Henley Management College. He has post-graduate qualifications from Rice University in Houston and Waikato University.

John is a Chartered Engineer, a fellow of the Geological Society and member of the Energy Institute, Project Management Institute and the Institute of Directors in New Zealand. He is the current Treasurer of the Energy Law Association. John has served on a number of advisory boards and is currently a Scientific Fellow of Food Standards Australia New Zealand.
